This is a nice, clean comfortable hotel. But when I took a shower (at 6:45am) there was no hot water. It was barely warm enough to make the shower tolerable.

Super Eight stay not so super….

The room was not clean…..corners were dirty, tub had a ring, no Kleenex in room, the hallways stink like smoke, ice machine was broken, hot tub was not operating, lawn and exterior need refreshing.

My wife and I lived in Iola before moving away ten years ago. We remembered when this hotel and the movie theatre next door were built and how wonderful it was when we lived in Iola. However, we very very saddened by the dilapidated condition of both. The hotel has not been updated in some time, and needs a deep cleaning. there was a dried, crusty food spill on the bed cover and some kind of stain on the sheets. The corners of the bathroom tile had collected dirt from mop water and need attention. The breakfast was a bad joke, with an opened package of cookies still in the plastic, some bread that had been left for some time and two packages of instant oatmeal. For hot items, one small 9x9 pan of gravy, what looked like had been scrambled eggs and some deformed clumps of dough. All of these had been eaten by 7:15 (breakfast started at 7:00) and were NEVER replenished. The bathroom and pool area were filthy. The parking lot was filled with several articles of clothing that were there when we checked in, and again the next morning. Obviously management doesnt care about such things. There are better hotels in Iola and further down the road in Chanute.

Recent stay….

The first room we were offered was smelly from previous smoking tenant. We were given a much cleaner-smelling room. Bathroom needed servicing. Tub drained slowly. Toilet continued to run. Corners of rooms, bath included, need cleaned. Breakfast is at best pitiful. No tea bags. Shriveled apples, sugared yogurt, donut holes, white bread, fake orange juice, sugared cereals, biscuits, gravy, egg/potato mixture. Wyndham Hotels could do better than this. The management is very friendly. Housekeeping staffers, as well, were friendly. The bed was comfortable.

Comfortable bed, clean, quiet. Breakfast not so much with soggy biscuits, a toaster but no bread, muffins or bagels to use it for. No pastries at all. Automatic pancake maker was fun to watch but pancakes were super thin and could have been cooked through a little better.

Have been staying here each year for many years. Property remains reasonably priced and the staff are always nice and helpful when needed. No insects ever seen, which is a big plus! It definitely could use a thorough/detailed cleaning and refurbish.
