London and related destinations
Forget the double-decker bus tours – the real London reveals itself when ducking into centuries-old pubs where Shakespeare might have scribbled sonnets over ale. The British Museum houses treasures from every civilization, all available without spending a penny. Witness the ancient ceremony of the keys at the Tower of London, then compare crown jewels to the sparkling skyline from the London Eye's glass pods. Theater-lovers can score half-price West End tickets at Leicester Square's TKTS booth. Trafalgar Square's pigeons have been banished, but the people-watching remains superb. For a perfect afternoon, grab picnic supplies at Borough Market before sprawling on the grass in Hyde Park, watching locals pretend the fleeting sunshine is perfectly normal.

Strand Palace Hotel
"Great location, lovely hotel"
Bedford Hotel
"Always a fantastic stay! The single rooms are great value and an excellent location"
STG Hotel London Oxford Street
"The hotel is very central for a few days in London. The reception staff were lovely and very helpful. We had stayed here last year and even though there had been renovations we felt we got a better room with amenities last year. This year room was smaller, hardly any natural light (not good for somebody with dodgy eyesight) and was very disappointed that the rooms were no longer equipped with a fridge. Also for the size of the hotel we felt more lifts would have been useful. That being said if you are going to be out all day and evening exploring London and just need a room to sleep and shower this could be for you."
Zedwell Piccadilly Circus
"Great location"
The Tower Hotel, by Thistle
"Great location right next to Tower Bridge, across the road from Tower of London and 5 minute walk through underpass walkways to Tower Hill station which gives easy access to most of London. And a river ride pier a fee steps away. Staff excellent. Room good size. Many food options in the immediate area. Nice was a £7 voucher for skipping a day of housekeeping. Being more used to “save the planet/don’t change towels “ messages with no acknowledgement that saving the planet also saves laundry and other costs for the proprietor. Nice move Tower Hotel. Let down was a tired over the bath shower with slightly loose grab handles. It let down the otherwise good overall standard of the room. In all an excellent base to see two of London’s big attractions just outside the hotel door."

"Excellent hotel, friendly"
Hotel Riu Plaza London The Westminster
"Hotel was very clean and well maintained in a quieter area of Westminster. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room had quirky design but worked well in practice. Breakfast was very good in terms of choice and quality."
Princes Gardens
"Good room for the price, no AC during summer heat though"
