Busy area in Helsinki. Close to a lot of good shops and restaurants. A lot of stuff for children in walking distance, playgrounds, parks, moomin shops, museums, sea life and linnanmaki (3km). Friendly staff, good breakfast, family rooms were quite big. Poor water pressure in the shower. Great playroom for children in first floor!

Good things: the hotel was very central and had a tram stop right in front. The facilities were beautiful and the breakfast was outstanding. I was happy to see plenty of vegetarian options, and most foods being lactose free. Less good: it became very complicated with the breakfast booking as the personnel made several mistakes when charging it. Also the bathroom cleanliness could be improved. Some tiles were moldy and the bathroom door had several spots.

Hotel was very close to the train station which was convenient and tram station stop directly outside the front of the hotel which is good for getting around during the day.....not so good if you are trying to sleep. It was very warm in the room so had to sleep with window open until the noise either from drunks out or trams noise became too much. Sauna was available on lower lever but only at certain times, only found this out from reviews online not from staff. It's very close to the bus station which is good as lots of shops and supermarkets but be warned we were followed a few times so keep you valuables close keep your eyes peeled. The area around the hotel didn't feel safe at times I'm afraid to say.

Pluses - The Scandic is conveniently located in a walkable area. The staff were warm and welcoming; happy to answer questions and provide support. The breakfast buffet is excellent and one of the best attributes of the hotel. The sauna is also a top asset that we enjoyed several times during our stay. It was nice to have a gym available too. Minuses - Amenities in the room were missed like a coffee maker and lotion. Mold in the shower was unappealing. Unfortunately the rooftop bar that was promoted wasn’t open and doesn’t open until late spring and summer.

Central, good value for money

Good value for money, perfect central location, direct access to shopping centre. Bathrooms are a bit dated (it takes a while for the water to go down in the sink), and there was a weird smell… bathroom mirrors had makeup and fingerprint residue (and dust!) from previous guests. Otherwise perfect hotel, rooms on 4th floor towards Kamppi were quiet. 7th floor terrace is a wonderful spot to look at the sunset (no purchases required!)
