Disappointing for a hotel at this price point
We stayed for three nights with our 8.5-month-old baby. The room itself was fine, but being given a room with internal stairs when travelling with a baby and a stroller showed a lack of consideration. Breakfast was generous and good.
Unfortunately, the real issues lie elsewhere. Despite clear no-smoking rules, guests smoke freely around the hotel, including on the breakfast terrace and by the pool. When asked to intervene, staff simply respond that it is “not their job.” This is unacceptable. Worse, guests also smoke cannabis, with the smell drifting into the hotel itself.
The pool area is far from relaxing, with guests playing music through their own speakers and bringing their own bottles of spirits, including vodka. It creates an atmosphere that feels more like a public beach than a luxury hotel.
The gym is decent, but access to the spa is only included if you book a treatment. At €600–700 per night, I expect a much higher standard of service, comfort and facilities. Several areas of the hotel also clearly need maintenance.
I appreciate that Royal Beach may be considered one of the best hotels in Eilat, but for travellers accustomed to high-end hotels internationally, the gap between the price charged and the experience delivered is hard to ignore. The hotel has potential, but management needs to take much greater responsibility for enforcing its own rules and maintaining the standards expected at this price point.
