The hotel was very quiet with a lovely well maintaine garden and pool at the front. The room was clean and quiet and the breakfast was very nice, with plenty of choice inclusing Nepali dishes (my preference over 'western' food!). You could walk easily to Thamel. There were plenty of attentive staff to help when necessary. I will stay there again when I next visit.

Hotel Shanker gives you a pleasant place to relax between other activities. Clean rooms and premises. Good and varied breakfast in a beautiful room. Nice garden and pool area and you can book treatment in their spa department. I recommend rooms upstairs - better than on the 4th floor (tried both) (which is actually first floor). Very helpful employees at the hotel🙏 They even have a little shop where you can buy nice cashmere sweaters and other things.

Everything at Hotel Shanker is truly great. I really feel at home in this beautiful hotel. The staff are magnificent and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The architecture of this old historical palace is stunning. The entrance and lobby is so beautiful and great for photos. The garden in front is wonderful and the pool is terrific. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Shanker. It’s the only place I stay when visiting Kathmandu. I’m already looking forward to a return visit!! Thank you Hotel Shanker for treating me so well and giving me such great memories and photos!!

Beautiful hotel in a great location. I had 3 stays here during my time in Nepal and enjoyed them all. My room on the final night was one of the renovated ones and was lovely. Amazing bed. Staff are great and the breakfast really good.
