Lovely but somewhat over-rated

As a museum professional I think it is amazing that such an old building can be put to modern use but with respect for the old building. However our room was cramped in relation to the prize we paid for it, and it was very hot. The least the hotel could do in a building where installing AC is impossible, is to provide fans. Also there naturally were no elevators, but the hotel could have provided porters, which would also have been historically correct. Our 5 course dinner was good, but one should not come hungry to the table. Waiters were willing and friendly but inexperienced. The dress code at dinner was not followed by the other guests. Breakfast was superior though.

Takk for et fint opphold på Dalen Hotell! At trede inn på hotellet er en direkte innføring i honoratiores liv for hundrede år siden. Ikke minst den koselige salong med stilrene møbler og dempet, men enda leservennlig belysning. Restauranten understreker ytterligere tidsånden. Motivene på de nasjonalromantiske malerier på endeveggen er helt i harmoni med lokalmiljøet. Middagen var lett og velkomponert, så også de ledsagende viner, ikke minst grenache dessert vinen. Betjeningen vennlig og diskré! Hotellet annonserte dress Code før ankomst, som dessverre nok var oversett av flere. Dette var vårt tredje besøk på Dalen, der kommer flere! 5 året på rad vi har en helg der. Noterer meg en følelse og opplevelse av at standard er på vei ned. Det er kostbart å bo der, at de da ikke har kapasitet til å servere alle gjester en lunsj i løpet av 3 timer er meget spesielt. Måtte andre steder for å få det. En kaffemaskin som nå har streiket i ca 1 år....eller er det uvilje til å lage noe annet enn svart traktekaffe? Når de derimot fikk startet den så var service upåklagelig. Middag var meget bra, frokost like så. Tidligere startet den særegne Dalen opplevelsen allerede i resepsjonen. Nå var det som ett hvilket som helst medioker hotell.
