Good experience
If you are looking for a hotel with history and character, in lovely grounds, then this is for you. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our beds were comfortable and the hotel is spotlessly clean. There is a pleasant bar and large dining areas. Breakfast was plentiful with a very good range of options. My only slight criticism would be that the breakfast room could benefit from re decorating.
I would definitely go back to this hotel.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and is a friendly place, the rooms are in a new part of the complex not the building from the 1500’s which was good!! I love soft beds, it was the best sleep I’ve had in a hotel since forever, even in the heatwave heat!

Weekend stay
Breakfast was good. Didn't get chance to have evening meal as I was back late. Bed ok if you like a soft mattress (my preference is firm). I was out most of the time at a local event so didn't really spend a great deal of time at the hotel, but I would happily stay again.

Beautiful setting, very nice area. We stayed in the main building and the decor is breathtaking.
Breakfast was ok, I wish the bread was real bread, hot milk was available and the pastries were brought in more regularly. Savoury options were good.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
All in all, we would stay there again.

Beautiful hotel but no restaurant
Lovely Hotel - beautiful decore and views. We were disappointed to hear that the restaurant had a limited menu in the evening. This didn’t bother us initially - but when we arrived for dinner - the only choice was beef, chicken or veggie Burger. This isn’t ‘limited’ we seriously would have thought scampi or ham egg and chips or some sort of curry could have been offered as an alternative.
Jo did try her best to convince us that there would be a few things to choose from. She kindly offered to order us a pie from outside, but we really didn’t expect the menu to have no choice at all! We decided to go to a local pub which was recommended- not a pleaaant experience at all, the food was terrible! It did spoil our stay, Jo gave us a free breakfast but my husband was not well in the morning so we didn’t make it on time. it was a bit of a disaster for us to celebrate my retirement.

Arguably the best UK hotel i have stayed in within the past 15 years and that’s saying something! From the old-world charm of individually named rooms to the polite and friendly staff and the quality of the food, my stay was top drawer! Even a couple of minor issues that I brought to the staff’s attention were handled quickly and professionally; I will definitely be back!

Nice little stay outside of London.
Lovely looking place in a beautiful setting. Rooms and hotel very clean. Comfortable stay. The hotel is a bit dated, shower curtain over bath. Looks like they are doing some refurbishing. A lot of stairs. Overall good food.

Room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The main building was constructed in mid 1500's and is well preserved. We stayed in a more modern wing.
All staff are friendly and welcoming, Joanna at reception is an outstanding asset for the hotel.
Parking was easy, and internet was good. Breakfast was wonderful with offerings of a cooked as well as continental breakfast.
I understand current owners are slowly updating the hotel however it is still well presented and maintained and a charming establishment.
We would not hesitate to stay again if the opportunity arises
