Cleanliness was an issue, they clearly do not sweep, mop, vacuum under the bed or furniture. I moved a recliner only to find large clumps of hair and dust. I adjusted a nightstand and found the same between the nightstand and bed.
Bugs were also an issue. In a humid environment and older building I do expect to see a lot of bugs outside; however, I expect NOT to see them coming out of the walls in my bathroom or scurrying under my bed. Roaches are a fact of life, but if someone is paying to stay in your hotel it behooves you to combat infestations in your rooms.
The wall unit AC was not verry effective in keeping the room comfortable, and there were oddly exposed wires running from it.
Some of the other guests seemed to be on drugs and wandering the premises at night. It made for a rather uneasy feeling during a business trip where I really needed to be focused.
Old popcorn ceilings too, which isn't necessarily a problem, unless they contain asbestos... which judging by the state of the hotel, I'd be a little surprised if they have been tested for it.
The hotel staff banged on my door like they were the Police about 5 minutes before my checkout time to ensure I was leaving on time. Trust me guys, I had no intention of staying longer...
