The rooms were in very poor condition. The main light didn’t work for the 3 days I stayed there. The room smelt of cigarette smoke. There were cockroaches everywhere. The room was full of flies. I wouldn’t recommend this place to stay in derby.

We arrived after a long drive, and a lovely fellow named Brook escorted us to our room. He was the owner apparently, and apologised for the refurbishments currently being undertaken at the motel. The TV was missing from our room (someone had taken it), and some a**hole had completely trashed the room a few along from ours which he was in the process of repairing. As a very generous gesture, he invited us to partake in a free pizza, cooked by him, in the takeaway onsite. That said, the room was very small with one side of the dbl bed against the wall. The bathroom was clean and tidy. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided.We were very worried about our car in the carpark being vulnerable to any would-be criminals in the area, as the locked gate was broken. We needn't have been, it was perfectly safe. The area was questionable, but the hospitality shown to us was outstanding. Thankyou Brook for an interesting stay.

Great stopover in Derby

We picked this overnight accommodation in Derby at the last minute onroute to Broome, as we had been driving all day from Kununurra. It was a great decision to turn off the major highway as we made it just in time for the beautiful sunset on the Derby wharf. The Mud Crab Inn is close to the wharf and handy to local shopping. The host is so nice and welcoming and organised some dinner and dessert for us as soon as we had settled in. The double room was suitable for our needs - safe and secure, great air-conditioning, comfortable bed and good shower. We were up again and gone early in the morning but very thankful to Brook for his hospitality.
