While it was a nice stay, I found it somewhat disappointing since there were no staff present. I am 74 years old and have not mastered modern technology. But my wife and I were able to figure things out without too much difficulty. We do prefer human contact when traveling so we can ask questions and engage in conversation with locals. But the room was clean and comfortable- plus in a great location.

Good hotel in a good spot to go to Trollstigen! Nice, clean, centrally located. Check in/out could be smoother like scanning a QR code instead of having to look up booking references. You have to type in all booking references if you book more than one room using the same name.

The hotel rooms are not large but are very clean modern and convenient. Plenty of common area space with ample seating, there is a large conference room. Plenty of parking and Tesla EV recharging stations. Grocery Store at the ground floor has hot and frozen food options. Cafe is on the second floor. OnSite Coffee machine makes very strong coffee.

Fantastic property and completely self-serviced. Good for shorter stays. Beautiful view of the river outside from the window. 10 min walk to town center and attractions. No food or dining options but the Esso fuel station near by serves waffles, baked items and nice varieties of coffee for breakfast.

Åndalsnes hotel stay

Nice stay in this hotel. It is very basic, but common areas are cozy and coffee is free with self serve. Place has no breakfast, so ESSO gas station is the best option for this. Price was high compared to other places we visited in Norway, maybe because Åndalsnes might having a low hotel room capability? Nice view to the mountains from our room 😃

Nice spot

The unmanned check in worked seamlessly. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the coffee machine in the common area was not working and there are no facilities in the rooms themselves. I’d recommend though based on the value. The views from the room were also great!

Nice hotel but is that enough?

The check in process was tedious, the machine did not work. After trying almost an hour I tried calling hotels.com which did not recognized the itenary number. So I was stuck with not being able to talk to an operator or person. Anyhow, alnost after 2 hours we Finally received help and got the rooms. The rooms very very nice with a good view. However, try ti stay away from rooms 1, 2 and3 as illmanned people tend to gather there laste at night and early in the morning, disturbing your sleep and stay. The staff was very very nice and helpful, when available.

Terrible check-in experience. I didn’t receive an SMS to my international number with pin to open the main door. It took about an hour to receive that information from the property by email after numerous calls to Expedia support, Expedia did a great job and even found for me an alternative hotel because the agent was unable to reach out to the property manager while was calling to all available numbers and sending the emails. The contact number that I found close to the self-check-in screen was switched off. The brand new room was perfectly clean and comfortable for a one night stay. The property is located next to the gas station and it’s about 15-20 min from the train station. The hotel was pretty expensive and it wasn’t worth it considering the location and lake of customer support onsite or at least a help line available after 8pm.

Overpriced, dystopian, and unsafe

It should be priced like a hostel. Instead for one night we paid $ 270.00. The “hotel” is situated on the third floor of a sad shopping mall outside town next to a large gas station and an RV and bus storage. Too far from the train station to walk. Our room was small and lacked most of the basic amenities one expects from a hotel. No desk, no luggage rack, no kettle no coffee machine. It is advertised with AC, but there are no controls in the rooms. Fortunately we could open a window, but then we heard engines revving up all night. The TV does not have apps or Chrome-cast and the only channels are in Norwegian. In a new brand new place? No way to make coffee or tea. The coffee machine is in the common room, and we were supposed to find pods for it in the room but there were none. For coffee one must go to the gas station next door. What else would one expect? A decent shower and a good bed. Well, the shower drain was not working properly so to avoid a flood we had to shower with a trickle, and the bed was the cheapest and most uncomfortable we ever experienced in a Scandinavian country. So soft that it was hard to turn. The place is not staffed at all and so there is no security. At night I went into the common room looking for at least a kettle, and found a guy sitting there that gave me a weird vibe. I went back in the morning and he was still there asleep on the sofa. If you want to pay to sleep with the homeless this is the place for you.

Simple lodging with adequate shared community space for having dinner or relaxing. The rooms themselves are small/efficient, but clean and up to standard. The location is great for visiting sights in the area, satisfying basic shopping needs, and charging an electric vehicle. It was also a perfect launching point for an early morning drive up Trollstigen. Note that there are seagulls nearby. If you are foolhardy enough to try to leave groceries or other belongings outside your window, you may keep your neighbors awake and find things missing in the morning!

Upon arrival, the check-in kiosk did not work. After contacting their support, there was some back and forth on the phone, until an hour later they decided to send an employee to the hotel. We were checked in 90 minutes after arriving and had to scrap our plans for dinner. The room was however clean and functional. The location was in a shopping-/industrial area, lacking restaurants etc. Works in a bind, but wouldn’t recommend.

Although on the quiet, commercial side of Andalsnes and above a mall, Frich’s is absolutely fine for a night’s stay. I have stayed in far smaller rooms. We even had a view of the mountains and water from our room … if we disregarded the Esso station. LOL. Seriously, it was a good value, the automated check-in worked flawlessly, the room was super clean, and I have no complaints. I was unfamiliar with Frich’s, but I would not hesitate to stay at any Frich’s property in the future.

Clean and convenient hotel. There is no staff but check in was easy so no help was needed. There are several supermarkets next to the hotel and there are restaurants nearby within a couple minutes drive. It’s also only a 4 min drive to the golden train and gondola. Recommend this place for short stays :)

No staff no contact with anyone i guess that's the policy. It's strange to use for the first time. We had a beautiful view from our room. Would i use again 🤔 probably not Went outside after hours and couldn't get back into the property. Luckily my friend was inside to let me back in.
