Ishigaki
The Ishigaki neighborhood delivers authentic island living with crystal-clear waters and coral gardens right at your doorstep. This residential area lets you experience genuine Ryukyuan culture through local festivals, traditional crafts, and the soulful twang of sanshin music drifting from neighborhood gatherings. Family-run spots serve fresh seafood and premium Ishigaki beef with authentic island flavors that'll have you extending your stay. Vacation rentals and traditional accommodations provide ocean views in this peaceful enclave, while rental cars help you explore beyond the main tourist areas - just remember most local shops close early.

Tonogusuku
Tonogusuku offers a quiet slice of authentic Okinawan island life away from the tourist rush. Wander through narrow streets lined with traditional red-roofed homes and lush tropical gardens. The neighborhood's coastal location puts beautiful beaches within a 10-minute walk, perfect for swimming in turquoise waters. Family-run eateries serve delicious home-style Okinawan dishes at wallet-friendly prices. Accommodations blend traditional tatami rooms with modern comforts in converted family homes. Getting around is easiest with a rental car, though the flat terrain makes cycling a pleasant option too.

Kabira
Kabira Bay dazzles with its jaw-dropping turquoise waters and powder-soft white sand that'll make your Instagram followers weep with envy. Glass-bottom boats glide over stunning coral gardens while traditional thatched-roof houses dot the coastline alongside modern resorts. Snorkelers and beach bums alike find paradise in this pristine corner of Ishigaki, where the island's natural beauty steals the show. Resort restaurants serve up mouthwatering Japanese-Okinawan fusion while local spots offer fresh-caught sashimi and traditional island specialties. Most visitors rely on rental cars to explore since public buses to Ishigaki city center run limited schedules. Evening activities center around stunning sunsets, resort lounges, and stargazing under remarkably clear skies.

Arakawa
The Arakawa neighborhood offers attractions such as Ishigakijima Astronomical Observatory and Fusaki Beach.

Misakicho
Ishigaki's Misakicho neighborhood offers attractions including Ishigaki Island Ferry Terminal.

ANA InterContinental Ishigaki Resort by IHG
"Very expensive and sadly there is a class system. Hotels.com advertised 3 pools but we could only use one which was not ideal and not enough sun beds. Paying £330 a night we wouldn’tn expect to be the ‘lower’ tier of guest. However, we loved our room even though no balcony and the food was incredible. Chinese restaurant was permanently closed though, again this was advertised as open. They could do with a lounge bar for the lower tier guests. Beach could do with a clean up, a lot of washed up rubbish and plastic plus random cargo boxes left to rot."

"Very family friendly and breakfast is amazing. Wish they had gym facilities"
Art Hotel Ishigakijima
"The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast line became very long and was time consuming and especially difficult when we had activities planned for the morning. The breakfast buffet was also very crowded. The dinner buffet was delicious but was rather expensive t $27.50 per person which did not include soft drinks. The hotel is family friendly which is great but the pool and the onsen were over run with children. I don’t have anything against children but it was crowded and children outnumbered the adults. I was there in July. After talking to other tourists I found that there are some hotels that have adult only pools which may have been nice just to allow space to sit and relax."

"Comfortable beds, air conditioning could have been a little cooler. Location was good but we were there in a heat wave so the walk to the terminal or town felt long."

"Loved the washer dryer in the room. Great modern hotel with apartment feel. Good location set a little out of town but not too far, onsite car rental was simple and very helpful along with the lime scooters on site. Worth a look if your planning a trip to Ishigaki"
Fusaki Beach Resort Hotel & Villas
"A great place to stay with kids."
The BREAKFAST HOTEL MARCHE Ishigakijima
"Clean room, nice staff, good location But ventilation not that good, the corridor and toilet smelt humid and mouldy, even with 24hr ventilation"
Rich Reson Ishigaki
"We loved the location for privacy and access to the best beaches in Ishigaki. As well, the properties rooms and overall layout were super functional and made for a very relaxing stay."
Grandvrio Resort Ishigakijima
"Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. The property grounds and pool are very nice. The beds and pillows are hard as a rock so sleeping was less than comfortable. The room was also very warm even with the air conditioning set at 19C. We had to use the stand fan and dehumidifier the entire time so that was less than desirable. The breakfast buffet is overpriced at ¥2800 per person for what was offered. Not very many options for foreigners who don’t eat traditional Japanese breakfasts. Coffee in the room in addition to tea would also be nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay despite those minor things. The onsite Yakiniku restaurant was very good!!
