My wife and I stayed at this pleasant BnB in May for 2 nights. It is recently remodeled, including the bathroom. It is smack-dab in the middle of the old town of Castellaneta and it is extremely convenient for visiting the Rudolph Valentino museum. (The museum itself offers a fascinating story of one of the first true movie stars and is highly recommended.) Matera is a unique town and this hotel captures the special qualities. Each room is different and because it is part of the cave infrastructure of the town, some rooms are dark. I'd ask for a room with widows and terrace if going back.
This is a unique property in the middle of antic city Matera. Beautiful views from the windows to die for, location, etc. Hotel is in excellent condition, furniture, room design, etc. Breakfast is very good. Great options for fine food in the area. You need to be prepare to walk a lot in the city of Matera with steps up and down including to and from hotel. If you can not walk - it is not for you. Parking (free or paid) is on the street within 10-15 min or so walking. Finding can be a problem....
Our stay in this hotel was wonderful! The place is amazing, you get to experience an immerse adventure of the Matera spirit. The rooms was beyond beautiful and the service and food… just excellent! Definitely a MUST stay in this gorgeous city.

One of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at. Restored Palazzo next to the hill top Duomo in the Sassi with fantastic views over the old city and the canyons. Rooms were spacious, very tastefully decorated in keeping with the beauty of the building, and also up to date with thoughtful touches such as heated floors.

Parking was excelent. Location could no have been better just in the outskirts of the old City. Staff was very kind and helpful both at checkin and giving instructions for tours and food. Room was very well kept
Love vely, charming and beautifully decorated and appointed. The roof terrace was an extra special surprise and we enjoyed watching the sunset from there and the colors of the whitewashed trullis change as the sun set. Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom....
