We attended a wedding in Capaccio. The bride and groom suggested this hotel. It is so tastefully done. Even though it is only about 10 years old it appears authentic. The restaurant was superb and the proprietor and staff were exceptional with their caring. It is a family operation and they are charming. My great grandfather was born in the very small town of Aquara and, in planning our trip from the USA to Italy, we were looking for a peaceful, welcoming spot to stay while we paid a short visit to the city. The staff was terrifically accommodating and the property was beautiful. There is a restaurant, small bar and pool on site as well as short walking trail, hammocks and, since they are up on a hill, beautiful views of the valley below Aquara.
This is the second time I’ve been back to this property. The owner is a lovely man. The breakfast is excellent. You can open a bottle of wine and enjoy it in the beautiful garden.
Elia and his wife are great hosts. Place is 5+ stars with beautiful view and sunrise. Breakfast is organic and my wife is special thankful for their care for her diet restriction. We would come here whenever we are in this area.
If you want a true Italian family experience then a stay at BnB La Mortella is the answer. We considered staying in Paestum to be close to the great temples but knowing that La Mortella was only 20 minutes away convinced us to try something different during our Italia tour. This was a journey into the past. Atena Lucana, the old city, is high on the mountain top and overlooks a spectacular valley below. It has breathtaking views. You need to be a mountain goat to climb and explore the streets. But if you love antiquity and have a sense of adventure, you won't be disappointed. The church of St Ciro is quite beautiful. This hotel we perfect for what we needed, One night and reasonable price. They have free WIFI which is always a plus and on site free parking! Room had plenty of space for a short stay, Bathroom was large and clean. Large balcony, tho it rained during my stay. Restaurant down stairs was very good, and inexpensive. Breakfast was a normal continental variety.
Wonderful, charming place to stay. Luigi, the proprietor, and his daughter, Rita (the Rita is her grandmother), are such wonderful people - you will love them and the great atmosphere at this beautifully appointed B&B/hotel.
