Mantasaly Resort
10/10 Excellent
"This hotel is an absolute delight. The bungalows are well appointed with excellent air conditioning (much needed), the grounds are filled with interesting plants having been designed and planted by the owners and everything is immaculate. The bar and restaurant area are imaginately designed and the menu delivered by a talented young chef they lured from Tana. He has his own ideas based on Malagasy and international cuisine and quite frankly, having spent 7 weeks in Mada, it’s the best food we’ve ever had. The service from all the staff whether front of house, restaurant, housekeeping, drivers or maintenance is exemplary. Service in Mada can be very hit and miss but this is a team who have been properly trained and nothing is too much trouble. The one blot on the landscape (in May 2026) was the swimming pool is out of action due to a leak which is being repaired. A shame because the pool area is delightful. However, they drove us in a jeep 20mins though the woodlands to a beautiful, deserted beach where we could swim in calm water and even bought chilled drinks for us. They offered to cook a beach barbecue and although we declined, I can imagine it would have been great. There is also kite-surfing for the adventurous amongst other activities but even if you don’t partake, watching them all over the bay is mesmeric. Can’t recommend this place enough."
Hotel de la Poste
8/10 Good
"The room itself is clean. It takes about 15 mins before the water becomes hot. I had an eSim and the data was terrible. The hotel's wifi was not any better. My overall experience there was frustrating because no internet meant no communication because i depended on google translate. However, the room was nice and the location was good. The area is safe. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance."
