We had such a wonderful stay at La Sarlamandre. Our hosts, Stéphy and Séb were so kind and welcoming from the start. The rooms are very clean and feel brand new.
Breakfast was delicious with homemade jams and cake.
Everything was so perfect and their attention to detail made our stay so comfortable. We really felt at home. We were so sad to leave and wish we could’ve stayed longer! Merci beaucoup!
We have been in France for about 2 weeks, staying in a variety of places and I feel like we hit a home run with our stay at Hotel Bon Encontre. Christine is an extremely accommodating host who worked very hard to meet guests' needs. The hotel is in a wonderfully central location for exploring Dordogne. There is ample parking, which was a relief after fighting for parking spaces elsewhere!
Breakfast includes cheeses and meats, breads and a different sweet treat baked in house. It's a very...
Great place. Best dinner of our trip during the Tour de France. Pool was very nice. So was the grounds of the hotel. The staff was also great. Perhaps the best night of our trip traveling along with the Tour de France.
The hosts are extremely nice and accommodating. It was a bit of a surprise that I was staying in an upstairs apt of their home. Regardless, it was comfortable and they are friendly. Stunning views of the village and the valley from the apt.
The staff was very welcoming and more than helpful. When we found ourselves in a bind because we needed fuel and the only service stations open were automated (which don't accept American credit cards), the hostess went with us and used her personal credit card to get us on the road again. (We paid her back with cash.)
This place was absolutely wonderful. Clean and comfortable, beautiful surroundings and our hosts couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful. Great breakfast, too. Close to many villages as well as Sarlat, without being in the thick of the city. Would definitely stay there again if I return.
Every aspect of our stay was extremely lovely. The room and amenities were very spacious and lovely and it was very tastefully decorated. The breakfast on the terrace was delicious and beautifully served. Fransois and Helene were most welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed their 4 truffle hunting dogs. The only thing that would have been more helpful were the directions. The house itself is the first house on the right just after entering through the historic ancient arch into Domme. We ended up...
Truly an amazing place to stay. If you want to stay in a very old hotel, you will not be able to beat this, maybe 800-900 years old? They have put a lot of effort into updating this place to make it work as a hotel. The only effort that was lacking (maybe my view because I'm American) was that the room didn't have AC. Also, there were no screens in the windows, so when opened them, we attracted bugs. We were there during a very hot week in the south of France. We brought our own fans (they...
We had the Rousseau room at the very top of the building. It was spacious and very comfortable. We were prepared to have to walk stairs (no elevator) and the staff carried bags up and down. The heating was tricky but staff sorted it out. Breakfast was great and location is superb. Lea on the staff was especially helpful. For improvement, we would note that the bathtub/shower was very slippery and a bit treacherous with no grab bar to hold. Strongly recommend that they add non/slip grips to the...
