Between the old port's fishing boats and the gleaming MuCEM museum, Marseille's Mediterranean spirit shines brightest. Climb to Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica for views that explain why painters have been obsessed with this light for centuries. The ancient Le Panier district reveals narrow streets where laundry flaps above tiny squares. At Palais Longchamps, fountains cascade dramatically beneath a palatial facade. The Vieux Port transforms each morning into France's most aromatic fish market, where fishermen sell what they caught hours earlier.
Outstanding, smaller hotel in a wonderful (albeit touristic) area. The staff was exceptionally friendly, kind, patient and helpful. The area has literally dozens, maybe more, decent restaurants (many Tunisien places) and great museums and attractions within easy walking distance. Marseille is certainly wrongly maligned as a place to avoid - that is really old news, if it ever was true.
The hotel restaurant is a great place to have breakfast, and I recommend spending a little extra to book a...
As an interior designer, I really appreciated the attention to detail and overall feel of the Blue room. We loved the bathroom most of all, as well as the beautiful windows that let in so much light. Only negative is that the floor in the shower can get extremely slippery, definitely be careful.
The Hotel Bellvue was charm galore. We felt very welcome by the man at the front desk and all the staff, especially the bar tenders.
The rooms were a tad small but we made do.
The view of the harbor was spectacular.
We will recommend Hotel Bellvue to our friends and family.
Although in the heart of Marseille, C2 was a relaxing, boutique retreat (just over 20 rooms) with friendly staff and comfortable accommodations in a thoughtfully restored former townhouse then office building. I highly recommend Room 1. Walking distance to the harbor, sites and restaurants. But it was tempting to not even leave the hotel.
Residhome Marseilles looked new and everything was very clean, except that the carpet had a stain by the elevator that they didn't seem to be able to remove. They did clean the corridor carpet while we were there. We had interior view room which was super quiet. The people at the front desk were very helpful and spoke enough English so we could understand each other. The kitchenette was very nice and saved as money during breakfast and lunch. The street in the front was under construction to...
Great, fun staff. Good location . Lovely garden. Good breakfast. Lovely room .
We are 68 yr old Mainers who would rather this kind of experience than a typical, less intimate one.
The staff was very courteous and helpful. They were a big help in storing our luggage before checking in as well as for a few hours after we checked out. The “family room” we stayed in was fairly tight in term of square footage, but well put together and had an unexpected and charming outside patio.
The hotel lobby (on the other side of the street from the rooms) was also very welcoming and had a great deal of character. It is a perfect place to spend some time and get an espresso before...
