Use caution if driving as the roads are steep and narrow. Cars and trucks often park in the road creating one lane there aren’t any sidewalks so people and dogs also share the roads so be mindful if driving.
This hotel (not really kind of a retreat/B&B) is set away from the surrounding towns and is in the middle of a small working farm. You drive past cows and milking stalls on the way in....you feel that you're stepping even further away from your busy life to a simpler time. When you step inside it does take a while to realize you are really in someones home, and it's very welcoming. the staff was terrific. the grounds were a delight. flowers, birds, and butterflies everywhere.
however, just an fyi: to those susceptible, like me there are pretty bad mosquitos. especially on the river walk. my wife noticed at the end of our stay that there is mosquito repellent at the desk.
Beautiful property right on the river. There are so many beautiful birds and gardens. A sloth hug out in the tree right outside the door. It was never more than 6 meters above the ground. From the moment we stepped from our transfer, we were treated royally - the staff is trained well, very friendly, and efficient! The courtyard, used for meals, was lovely - heaters provided for cooler weather. The menus for both breakfast and dinner offered a variety of local as well as international options. Our standard room was small, but very comfortable.
