I was a little worried during the taxi ride to the hotel that I had made a terrible mistake in picking the hotel as some of the areas look a little rough (by American standards), however, once at the gated hotel I realized that I indeed had made a good choice when choosing the location as the property is incredibly calming and beautiful. Just know that since you are out of the city you will need to use Uber eat or a taxi to get food as there is no onsite restaurant.

The staff at the Bougainvillea welcome and get to know each and every one of their guests. You feel like you are a guest in their own home. The rooms are clean and spacious with great views of the mountain or the garden - I had a tree top view of a flowering Margarita tree - sensational! The dining is good and the prices comparable to most restaurants. Don't expect a bargain as there are none in Costa Rica. Very nice location one must know not to use Google if driving to this hotel on their own contact the hotel for proper directions or else you’ll end up in a coffee plantation this place is beautiful the owner was very nice and the food was good

the breakfast was great. the pool was a nice way to relax at the end of a long travel day. the staff was terrific. the grounds were a delight. flowers, birds, and butterflies everywhere. however, just an fyi: to those susceptible, like me there are pretty bad mosquitos. especially on the river walk. my wife noticed at the end of our stay that there is mosquito repellent at the desk.

The property is amazing. The river is stunning. Arlin and Sury are wonderful humans. They are kind and helpful. They will help you with everything you need to have a great trip.

This is a brand new property, recently built. This hotel has a great location, steps from the Costa Rica Convention Center, there are shopping malls, clinics, restaurants, at walkable distance. There is shuttle service to the SJO airport, Breakfast was great too including costarican typical food. Hope to be staying here again soon!

Very pleasant stay. Near center of Cartago, but far enough to be a quiet place to stay. Convenient restaurant next door serving good food.

Beautiful property with great customer service. Staff feel like family. Excursion team is excellent made our experience that much more wonderful. Drive was worth it. Would rate this place a 10/10. Thanks for a wonderful experience

Everything was excellent, service, food and the most beautiful people. One thing that really annoyed me, every time your phone is unused for more than 10 minutes, you have to re-enter the WiFi code, as well as with your laptop

I love their garden and their breakfast. Also the friendly and helpful staff are a plus. The first room I stayed #18, needs a cleaner sink area. It’s not adequate, not to standards. The location adjacent to the main university grounds is excellent.

I find no fault whatsoever with this hotel. I liked everything. It had a safe in the room where I could lock up my electronic devices whenever I wanted. The complimentary breakfast was very good with a wide variety of foods. Plenty of hot water. Free coffee in the room and at breakfast. You can buy expensive or less expensive food at the restaurant. This is a little gem in the center of San Jose. What a find. The staff are second to NONE (Patricia, Monica, Darren). The rooms are clean, the food was terrific and the libations were plentiful. You walk into a deco-like lobby with just enough outdoors to know you're in Costa Rica. Highly recommend the all inclusive for an additional $10/day. Its good for this hotel and their sister property down the street. You'll be even after your first two drinks. My only wish was a small pool or an area...

We were pleasantly surprised at this hotel. It is just as the pictures show and better. Our room and the rest of the hotel was spotless. Front desk and restaurant/bar staff were very kind. We only stayed one night but I would definitely come back. Free shuttle to airport was great as well.
