Check-in staff was very kind. This was clearly a "3-star hotel", though everything was clean and what I needed for a 1-night stay. Very close to the pedestrian "downtown". <15 min walk to the train station and the big theatre. So a good choice. Critical points: my room was small and 2 people would have been pretty cramped in the room. I found it expensive for what it was and I expected more for the price compared with other hotels in small french cities. Maybe Chalon-sur-Saône is an expensive...

We spent a lovely night in the Emerald Suite. The hosts greeted us on arrival and explained all the amenities, as well as answering a few questions about nearby activities. The room is spacious, comfortable and brand new. The bed is excellent and the shower and bath have great water pressure. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good night's sleep at a family-owned establishment off the beaten track.
