We got lost and the owner stayed on the phone with us until we found the hotel. It’s so enchanting like something from a movie. The lady that made the breakfast was precious and wanted to make sure we were completely happy. A lovely experience.
The hotel and hotel staff were great. Comfortable clean rooms and bathrooms. Only complaint is the location. If you plan on staying here rent a car and be very comfortable driving a stick shift. Portaria is a 30min drive from Volos and 1hr drive to the east coast. There are some restaurants in Portaria but not much else to do in this area.
It's worth staying here just for the view. Happily there's more reasons than that though. We spent 3 nights at Lagou Raxi and we all loved it, including my teens. The views from the hotel are spectacular whether you are on your room balcony, eating a meal on the porch or relaxing at the pool. The hotel is like a little oasis. First off, the Pelion region has forever changed my view of Greece! The roads are a bit tricky to drive, but as long as you relax and take it slowly, you will be rewarded with a lush, amazing journey of sea and mountains! This particular hotel was so worth finding; we had a lovely triple with a huge deck overlooking valley and the sea. We had an excellent stay in suite Zitta, perfect view, comfortable bed, clean jakuzzi, big and clean bathroom with everything you need, spacious terrace, tasty breakfast, parking for everyone, not close to taverns, you need a car.

Had a great time at Afissos Blu Hotel. The location is perfect, right by the sea. Just down the street are a number of tavernas and shops. The little village is quiet and picturesque, ideal for a relaxing vacation. The highlight of our stay was our host. She was extremely helpful and accommodating! We were gifted a jar of homemade honey before we left and felt right at home during our stay. Highly recommended! 5 stars!
