If being by the water is a major draw, Red Beach is a spot you might want to check out, located 10.2 mi (16.5 km) from central Faistos. If you want to continue walking by the waves, head to Beach of Matala located nearby.
"Great boutique hotel. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was good and filling. Room was great. Love the layout and decor. Would recommend to anyone going to Heraklion."
"Great hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit tight, but comfortable. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices. Overall, I highly recommend it. "
"This is our fourth stay at the Metropole. We choose this hotel for its convenient location and cute little square with cafes right next to it. It is a short drive from the airport and there is a car parking lot very close to it (not managed by the hotel). The check-in is quick and efficient, even if you arrive late due to plane delays. The rooms are clean and modern."
"We were only at the hotel for one night, and arrived at 7pm due to a delayed ferry, but we had a lovely if brief stay! The staff were welcoming on arrival and provided a welcome drink and showed us to our room. The rooftop pool is open until 8pm so we managed a quick dip and headed out to get some dinner. We walked to the old market area (Kalokerinou- about fifteen minutes away) and found a lovely restaurant. The buffet breakfast in the morning was to a high standard as well. Definitely recommend this hotel and would go back. Only thing of note is that it is on the main road and you can hear traffic if the window is open."
"It's a unique place. You've got to be the type of person that doesn't judge on face value to enjoy it. I really liked it. There's definitely some characters there. Badly needs a refurb but if it had one it would be busier and less enjoyable in other ways. Take it as you find it and don't judge too quickly"
