Top neighborhoods in Traverse City

Downtown Traverse City
Downtown Traverse City gives you the best of both worlds: waterfront bliss and small-town charm all in one walkable package. Stroll along the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, relax at Clinch Park Beach, or explore the historic buildings lining vibrant Front Street. The historic State Theatre and City Opera House add cultural flair, while the marina buzzes with activity during summer festivals. Foodies will fall for the local restaurant scene where cherry-infused dishes and craft brews rule the menus. Boutique hotels and historic inns offer cozy spots to crash after days spent shopping or swimming. Getting around is a breeze on foot, and the free trolley connects you to all the downtown hotspots.

Grand Traverse Commons
The Grand Traverse Commons turns Traverse City's historic asylum into an architectural playground worth exploring. Victorian-Italianate buildings with soaring ceilings now house art galleries, boutiques, and wine tasting rooms. Stroll through tree-lined pathways connecting the campus as you discover local artisans at work in their studios. The year-round indoor farmers market fills historic spaces with the aroma of fresh Michigan produce. Farm-to-table restaurants and casual cafés serve cherry-infused northern Michigan specialties. Most shops close early evening, so plan daytime visits to browse the handcrafted goods. While public transit is limited, free parking makes exploring this creative community a breeze.

Traverse Heights
The Traverse Heights neighborhood has lots to see including Traverse Area District Library and Boardman Lake.

Sugar Beach Resort Hotel
"It was nice being on that close to the lake. Staff were helpful and kind. Breakfast in the basket each morning was fine. At least it was something! Our room had a bad smell. Shower around the doors could of been cleaner. It was overall a pretty good stay."
Grand Beach Resort Hotel
"We choose to stay at this property as we like the lake view rooms. Our only dislike is that they have box breakfasts instead of a hot breakfast buffet. Wish they would stop the box breakfasts!"
Delamar Traverse City
"The pictures represented the property well. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and clean. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The beach is beautiful."
The Vic By Kasa
"We were in town for my son's wedding. The double queen room was clean and well stocked. Our only real issue was thee toilet, it was very slow to flush and eventually over flowed onto the floor. The front desk came to infect and cleaned up with towels and determined that it was due to a faulty mechanism getting caught. The toilet did not run any better afterwards, but it did not over flow either. However, we were left feeling like this matter was not a problem for the hotel. The fact that the floor wasn't cleaned properly after an over flow definitely didn't sit well with us. The staff didn't change our trash during our three night stay. The only reason we got clean towels is because the gentleman from the front desk, used our towels to clean the over flow. I can say that the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and attentive while checking in. However, I'm not sure we would stay at this hotel again."
Cherry Tree Inn & Suites
"Having a later timeframe for breakfast would be nice."
The Baywatch Resort

"We were pleasantly surprised! The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable. The room temperature was pleasant. The shower was clean, hot, and had good pressure. The front desk clerk was friendly and well informed. We would stay there again..."
Tamarack Lodge of Traverse City
"Everything was top notch. Loved the in room gas fireplace as well as the outdoor landscaping and lakeside gas fire pits. Very professional and accommodating staff. Fresh baked cookies every evening - nice touch. Of note, the beer and wine bar is not open despite what the webpage says. Hope to stay again!"
Bayshore Resort
"The room and deck were very nice. Loved the view of the water! And deck was nice and private. Breakfast was well stocked."
