Very nice small town. Nice climate for winter. Lots of golf courses if you golf. Hot in summer though. Spectacular mountains to the south. Easy access to Ouray, Ridgeway and Telluride. Great place to stay that is affordable if you want to ski/hike

The dog park was the best we've seen in weeks. The people we spoke to in the park, the restaurant and at the charging station were welcoming and helpful. The hotel receptionist, not so much.

Wish we had more time to explore the area, especially Black Canyon National Park. Cute historic downtown area with lots of good eateries.

I don't know if I just come from a very rude town, but everyone here was so friendly. I mean really friendly. Whether walking down the sidewalk or interacting with store staff, everyone was courteous and helpful. Cool bars everywhere too.

Many dining options nearby. Montrose looks like a great little town, but I did not spend a lot of time in town. I was there to see the Black Canyon :)

Great location for scenery and recreational opportunities. New businesses should add to a positive visit there; not cut corners for profit.

I grew up in Montrose and love returning. It has grown a great deal, but is still a slower pace.
"This motel was conveniently located. It offered a room furnished with items that made my stay even more pleasant. I loved the bathroom and walk in shower. The staff was friendly, curteous and helpful. Tricia was a very sweet lady ready to help replenishing supplies. This was a great experience. There was only one thing I could mention that was a minus. Housekeeping wasn't available during my 3 day stay. Other than that, I loved the place and staff and highly recommend it. "
"This property was clean, the staff (Kimmie was eagerly helpful when we arrived) & housecleaning & dining staff were exceptionally helpful and nice; the Uncompahgre River walking/biking trail was within three blocks from this Fairfield hotel in Montrose; the 5 blocks of Main St. of Montrose was within 1 mile from the hotel, so bikeable; coffee was available 24 hours a day (the male staff at the front desk, made me a fresh pot of decaf coffee at 4:30 PM); the breakfast consisted of a variety of foods of food: eggs (scrambled & omelets), and bacon or sausage, a waffle maker, cold cereal, yogurts, fruit; and we used the small swimming pool for aerobic exercise and the hot tub to relax our overused muscles at the end of the day. All in all, it was an excellent experience!"
"Upon arrival a person actually came outside the building to greet us. She saw take our luggage out of the trunk. Very impressive. No big check in process, just what was my last name and she handed us the key and we were on our way. After a long drive this was so very welcomed. We also dined and although the menu this day was severely limited (disappointing considering what I saw online as choices, the burger I chose was excellent as was the service. We were only there for one night but the room was very nicely appointed and large. I would have liked a coffee maker and another luggage stand. "

"I stayed at this property in August 2025. They were at the end of an extensive remodel of the property. Every staff member I met went out of their way to make sure your stay was as comfortable as possible. The people doing the remodel work were also very pleasant and polite. there was a lot of seating inside in the lobby, but most of the outdoor seating was in full sun. My bed was comfortable, the Internet was reliable and they were plenty of plugs to charge cell phones, etc."
