Limón Centro
Limón Centro pulses with Afro-Caribbean rhythms and cultural pride. The bustling Municipal Market offers tropical fruits and handcrafted treasures, while the Sea Wall provides perfect harbor views. Reggae music floats through colorful streets, and Vargas Park offers a shady retreat from the tropical sun. Caribbean history comes alive at the Regional Heritage Museum, showcasing the area's rich cultural tapestry. Authentic Creole restaurants serve coconut-infused rice and beans alongside fresh seafood caught just offshore. Most travelers find simple, budget-friendly guesthouses within walking distance of major sights. Getting around is easy on foot, though taxis provide quick transport to nearby beaches like Playa Bonita when you're ready to dip your toes in Caribbean waters.

Cieneguita
Cieneguita's colorful wooden houses and palm-lined beaches bring authentic Afro-Caribbean vibes to Costa Rica's shores. Spend your days lounging on the uncrowded Playa Cieneguita or chatting with locals about their fishing traditions. Reggae and calypso music drift through the air while the scent of plantains cooking reminds you this is no ordinary tourist trap. Family-run sodas serve up mouthwatering Caribbean rice and beans at prices that'll make your wallet smile. Basic guesthouses and cabinas offer no-frills comfort with a personal touch. Getting around is mainly by foot along the beachfront, with occasional taxis for longer trips into Limón city center.

Learn more about Limón
Vibrant Caribbean culture meets wild rainforest in this cruise port where Columbus once moored. Spot sloths and monkeys on eco-tours through lush jungle, or kayak the mangrove waterways. Playa Bonita offers palm-fringed relaxation, while downtown reveals Costa Rica's most culturally diverse city. Listen for Limonese Creole mixing with Spanish in the Municipal Market. Take a bus to nearby Moín port for boat trips to Tortuguero National Park, where sea turtles nest on protected beaches. Vargas Park provides a leafy retreat after exploring the Sea Wall, where locals fish as container ships glide toward the Panama Canal. Uvita Island beckons offshore, a reminder of the 'Cariay' Columbus encountered in 1502.

Park Hotel
"If you’re from US or Europe, this is a three star hotel at best. This is not a criticism. It is what I expected and the staff is excellent and it is clean; it just is not the Marriott. They have been renovating parts of the Hotel, which is warranted, especially with the influx of some modern hotels, but my overall experience is good to excellent overall. This hotel would thrive more, if Limón itself was not lacking in nightlife.. Four stars overall."
