Forget the crowds of Bar Harbor – this quiet corner of Mount Desert Island offers all the beauty with none of the bustle. After kayaking alongside curious seals, return to town where lobster rolls are served without pretension at dockside picnic tables. The Wendell Gilley Museum celebrates the art of bird carving with remarkable precision. Long Pond offers peaceful paddling opportunities where loons call across misty morning waters.
Quiet location, excellent management, comfortable bed, nice furnishings, good continental breakfast with (as everybody mentions) delicious muffins. Our only complaint is why I downgraded "comfort" & "condition" slightly, as there doesn't seem to be anyplace else where it fits. The tub/shower in Room 17 is old (naturally; the age of everything is a large part of the inn's charm) & requires a long step (at least for us senior citizens) up to get inside and down to leave. The leaving part is...
Everything exceeded our expextations. The place was spotless. The road to get the rental was rough. You have to watch out for the pot holes but definitely not a deal breaker.
Stunning in every way. All self check in/out.
Entire lobby was set up for help yourself. Food snacks books blankets drinks games and or sit and enjoy!
Room was almost vintage (pleasant) step back in time like the 60's motor lodges.
Everything including entire coffee brewer and coffee.
No Panick... TV was new with apps
Had a comfortable stay for 2 days during New Year’s! Very clean and friendly staff who were willing to go above and beyond to help with our requests. Beautiful views - highly recommend!
This is my third time staying here and I’ve never been disappointed. I’ve stayed here twice during the summer and once during the fall. The rooms are super cozy. The room is always so clean and smells great. It’s close enough to downtown and Arcadia National Park. When in the room you can’t hear the traffic. Hanscom’s is definitely a diamond in the rough. I also have to say Isis who works at the property is always super nice and fast with responding if you email her.
We stayed 2 nights at the Highbrook, Sept. 14th & 15th. The room was large and spotless, and had been recently renovated. The location was perfect for visiting Acadia and the Town of Bar Harbor. The free shuttle buses stop at the hotel. The breakfast was very good, it included Breakfast Sandwiches, Oatmeal, Bagels, Muffins, Eggs, Yogurt, Bananas, Orange Juice, Coffee, Hot Chocolate and Condiments of all types. We would definitely stay here again.
Location is ideal for walking around Bar Harbor, there’s a grocery store less than 2 blocks away, the unit had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. We had a lovely time and would be delighted to return!
Lovely remote area just outside of North Acadia Park. Spacious rooms friendly staff. The only negative I could find would be if you had trouble with stairs you do have to go upstairs to get to your bedroom so if you have trouble with steps that might factor in to your choosing this place, otherwise we wish we had more time to have spent there.
The staff was amazing and oh so super helpful.
When I arrived to check into my room, I was informed that my confirmation email and their booking did not match up!! The woman at the front desk was amazing and the owner was called. To make sure I got a room for the weekend, she pulled some strings and got me a room in the motel next door! I’m still in shock. People are amazing!
This is a new property. The rooms are sized generously. Parking is either below the building or across the street. The location is great with restaurants and coffee shops across the street. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely stay here again.
