Learn more about Escalante

Venture into the otherworldly slot canyons of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, where swirling sandstone walls tell geological stories millions of years in the making. Hole-in-the-Rock Road rewards explorers with ancient petroglyphs and dramatic formations seemingly sculpted with unlimited imagination. Escalante Petrified Forest State Park offers colorful fossilized wood scattered across desert trails. The Escalante Heritage Center provides context for this remarkable landscape. For a less-traveled experience, Boulder Mail Trailhead leads to spectacular vistas once traversed by early postal carriers. The Devils Garden area showcases nature's playground of hoodoos and arches without the crowds of better-known parks.

The Padre Motel

The Padre Motel

8/10 Good
"Old place, but OK. Old enough that two queen beds meant two separate rooms! We paid extra for that (which typically means an extra bed to unload on) so ended up with a room we didn’t use. It would have been a great option for a party of four who wanted some privacy. Pluses: you park right at your door, and the owner is thoughtful with amenities: extra plug outlets and strategically located night lights."

Escalante Grand Resort

"The single room cabin with a bathroom and shower was amazing for the price. I did have to figure out how to turn off all of the LEDs as it was very bright inside at night with the lights off. The coffee shop was great. The check-in process was buggy. Towels were good. Bed was soft and comfortable. Mini split control was nice. Bench outside was nice."

"Escalate Yurts is AMAZING! This place was beyond cool. They had breakfast waiting for us for the next day. it was hip, trendy, beyond clean. They had things for us to do outside if we wanted to. Cool air on a hot day. It is so hard to impress my son, and he gave this a 10 out of 10. Love it. "

"Very clean and comfortable room and friendly helpful staff. Terrific breakfast in the restaurant as well. However the check in process is terrible! You need a code provided in an email. If you didn't get the email there is no front desk or person to help check in. I happen to find an employee outside who was able to give me a phone number to get the code."
