Downtown Mackinac Island
Step back in time on Mackinac Island's downtown streets, where Victorian charm meets horse-drawn carriages. Fort Mackinac watches over cobblestone lanes filled with fudge shops releasing sweet aromas. Bike past historic landmarks like Biddle House or catch a show at the Haunted Theatre. Lake Huron views provide the perfect backdrop for this car-free paradise. The island's dining scene offers everything from fresh whitefish to homemade ice cream. Accommodations range from historic bed & breakfasts to the iconic Grand Hotel. Getting around is simple—just rent a bike, hop on a horse-drawn carriage, or explore the compact downtown on foot.

Learn more about Mackinac Island
Forget cars - bicycles and horse-drawn carriages rule this Victorian time capsule floating in Lake Huron. Fort Mackinac offers cannon demonstrations and sweeping water views that explain why both British and American forces fought to control this strategic outpost. The Grand Hotel's sprawling porch (yes, from 'Somewhere in Time') provides the perfect spot to sip tea while watching ferries crisscross the straits. Sample fudge from competing shops along Main Street - watching the theatrical marble-slab cooling process is half the fun. Arch Rock frames postcard views from 150 feet above the shoreline. For the full experience, circle the island's perimeter road, where limestone bluffs meet crystal waters and the only traffic jam might be caused by a horse taking an unauthorized snack break.

Cedar Hill Lodge
"Rooms were clean and as depicted in the pictures."
Pine Cottage Bed & Breakfast
"I stayed at the Pine Cottage for 2 nights in August and the staff was amazing. We inadvertently reserved a room with a small shared bath that did not meet our expectations and the manager went above and beyond to upgrade our room and resolve the issue so we had a private bath. (Note that there was no mention of a shared bath on hotels.com so be sure not to duplicate our mistake.) The beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast was terrific. We also liked the location, very convenient to several great restaurants and a block off the main drag for a quiet and relaxing stay."
Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront Mackinaw City
"Great location right on the beach of Lake Huron. Hot tub also excellent."
Waterfront Inn - Mackinaw City
"Would stay again."
Sunset Condominiums
"Very nice place to stay, clean. No personal contact, let yourself in. Quick response to any concerns. Our microwave went out because of the breaker. Response within 5 minutes. Mini-fridge and freezer work. Full pot if coffee. Close to small convenience store selling drinks, sandwiches, travel samples of whatever you forgot at home. Overall, a bargain considering all of the very expensive hotels near by. A taxi or shuttle is needed to get there and back from the main strip/ down town, $11 each way, kids half price. 40 minute hike if you decide to walk. Most rooms have a small balcony with table and chairs."
Mackinaw Beach & Bay Inn & Suites
"Room was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The price was worth it!"
Murray Hotel
"I loved the large hot tub and the location was perfect!"
Island House Hotel
"I know this may not be a popular opinion but, the island house was far superior to another Grander Hotel by far. The porch was so private and the view of the harbor spectacular! The restaurant at the hotel was top notch. Excellent food and service. Finally, the location was amazing. A short, easy flat walk to town made it the perfect stay. Highly recommend!"
Bridge Vista Beach - Hotel & Convention Center
"We liked the beach, it is the best in Mackinaw City. The staff is very friendly. It kind of stinks that they do not have breakfast though."
