Close to shopping and restaurants. Staff was very accommodating as we arrived a couple hours before check in and they were able to get us a room rather quickly. We were okay if they were not able to but I appreciate they were able to make the effort.
The room was clean and fresh. The bed linens were crisp and clean. The room was equipped with a coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, iron, flat screen tv, and hair dryer. Complimentary bottled water, coffee, fruit and pastries are provided in the main office in the morning. The hotel staff was friendly, even going so far as to remember and address me by my name when greeting me in the morning.
My primary complaints would be 1) the road noise, which, for the most part can be shut out by...
We stayed with our preteen and little guy and it was wonderful. Area felt pretty safe. We had a bay view room and got to watch the lighthouse at Alcatraz at night. Real close to dining, Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf and just a couple blocks from the Big Bus station. Breakfasts were good and definitely saved money not paying for that every day! They are strict about the breakfast cutoff.
Castle Inn was safe, clean and economical. Our only complaint was a wet towel was left on the back of the bathroom door. Other than that the room was very clean, it was safe and had free parking.
Really clean rooms and sheet beds.
Tile inside the restroom was broken and looks bad . But really clean.
Ice machine was broken I couldn't get ice at night or morning.
Experience was 9.5 out of 10
If you are visiting SF without a car, this is a great hotel. You can walk within 5 min. to the following: muni subway, main bus terminal to gg bridge and Marin/Sonoma county, to BART, ferry terminal, cable cars to Chinatown, classic rail cars to fisherman’s warf, hop on hop off busses, cruise terminal. If you are vacationing ask for a bay view room because there are only a few. The other rooms are small and dark. I liked the exposed brick in this older building. Perry’s restaurant is...
It's a charming, well-maintained older California building. We stayed in a room overlooking the courtyard and enjoyed the quiet, the flowers and the serenity of the whole location. It's convenient for restaurants and shops, the Hop-on/Hop-off tour bus, and there's even a 24-hr Walgreens close by. We're very happy to have found a hotel in San Francisco we want to return to.
We were in town because our daughter was in the hospital after being hit by a stray bullet. They worked with us on adding lodging day by day as we didn’t know how long we would be staying. It was a very emotional time for us and their companion to our situation was very nice! The breakfast was very good and plentiful.
