I've always loved Carlsbad. Strawberry picking... best sand ever (Because they had it brought in 😂)... lots of great food... shopping if that's your thing... Legoland if you have young kiddos... lots to do and not too far from Camp Pendleton.

If you're coming to San Diego county, Carlsbad is the place to stay! Beautiful, expansive beaches, less crowded, friendly locals! An easy shot both to Disneyland and to SeaWorld, and minutes from Legoland, California! Carlsbad is the place to be.

Great city to explore outside the summer months because you can get into restaurants and stores easily. Great time (April) to see the Flower Fields and go to a show at the live Theater in town. Good live music venues.

Carlsbad has a great beach and a wonderful old downtown. Lots of excellent cafes and a few fun bars. Overall, it is too crowded and has too much traffic for me but then I am from a small village in the Sierras.

Excellent town and dining, shopping, and beach options, even in January. We rode the Coaster train in, and didn't need a car to get around the downtown tourist area.
