South Jamaica
South Jamaica offers an authentic slice of Queens life where African American and Caribbean cultures thrive. Visit Allen AME Church and explore the historical Prospect Cemetery, then stroll through Rufus King Park before checking out King Manor Museum. You'll find local shops and small markets selling everything from Caribbean groceries to beauty supplies along the neighborhood's modest commercial strips. Getting around is easy with the E, J, and Z subway lines connecting you to Manhattan. Local Caribbean and soul food restaurants serve up jerk chicken and curry goat at budget-friendly prices, perfect for travelers watching their wallet. While tourist accommodations are limited, the occasional rental in this residential area provides a genuine New York experience away from the crowds.

Beneath the shadow of JFK Airport, this Queens neighborhood reveals a cultural tapestry far richer than most travelers discover. The Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning showcases local talent in a building pulsing with creative energy. King Manor Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the area's pre-airport history, when farmland preceded runways. Along Hillside Avenue, family-run restaurants serve jerk chicken and curry goat with authenticity Manhattan restaurants can only pretend to achieve. Jamaica Avenue's commercial buzz provides a refreshing alternative to Manhattan's tourist-packed shopping districts. Between the Queens Civil Court and Rufus King Park, you'll wonder why more visitors don't venture beyond the airport terminals.

New York Marriott Marquis
"The rooms are very spacious and well kept. Convenient location. Right in the heart of everything."
La Quinta Inn & Suites By Wyndham Queens NYC/JFK AirTrain
"Great proximity to Jamaica Station. Clean, new, comfortable and safe accommodation option. Quiet. Good complementary breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good aircon. Would recommend for a transfer stay."
Hard Rock Hotel New York - Partner of ALL Accor
"The room was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. My only complaint was that the room doesn’t come with a refrigerator, only a pull out drawer that was a cooler. U couldn’t even put ice in it because it had holes in it that would drain the melted ice out. It was useless. I only stayed one night so it was no big deal but if I was staying longer it would have been a bigger issue. For the price u pay I think they could install small refrigerators."
Hotel St. James
"Small boutique hotel with loads of character. Room was clean. Window A/C during an August evening had to be set low to keep the room somewhat cool, just comfortable. Front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. Rather quiet for being so close to the busyness of the city. Close to everything we planned in Midtown."
Hotel Edison Times Square
"Room was clean and tidy. Zenny at the front desk was amazing!!! She was very helpful and kind. She made sure we got everything we needed for our stay and every time we saw her she always greeted us. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again."
Empire Hotel
"Brillaint hotel, brilliant staff , great location. My only reservation would be the rooms are looking very tired and in good need of a makeover . However i would stay again despite this ."
Pod Times Square
"10/10 would recommend & would stay here again. Check in and check out was super easy. All staff members are really lovely. Rooms are great & have everything you need for a stay in NYC really. Me and my partner stayed here for 6 days and we found the room big enough for all 4 cases (there’s suitcase storage under the bed) and for the both of us. Nice size bed & very comfortable (mattress and pillows), rooms always turned down everyday by the cleaners which was a nice touch. Lovely view from the room (we stayed in room 1212) and hotel is in a fabulous location (super close to Times Square and 42nd Street MTA/Subway) Thank you for having us and we will most definitely be returning!"
DoubleTree by Hilton New York Downtown
"AC worked pretty well, and the front desk was helpful When we arrived it was was hard to find parking garage, just made it seem like it would be closer to the lll"
Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel
"The hotel was very clean and neat and the rooms were very well kept. However, the elevators were taking over 5-7 minutes to open their doors and they were full by the time they opened. At one point, we were 16 people inside an elevator. The restaurant food was also very good but the lines to go in for dinner or breakfast would take about 20-25 minutes, and then after seating, another 10-15 minutes for the (only waitress) to get our order."
