Learn more about Ellsworth
Wander the historic streets of this former lumber port, where 19th-century buildings now house quirky shops and local eateries. The Downeast Scenic Railroad offers a journey through Maine's countryside that feels like time travel without the paradoxes. Duck into the Telephone Museum for a surprisingly fascinating look at communication history that'll make your smartphone seem positively magical. After browsing unique finds at local shops, refuel with freshly roasted coffee at Rooster Brother. Come summer, the city transforms into the gateway for Acadia National Park visitors, though locals might direct you to the equally stunning but less crowded shores of Green Lake or Branch Lake.

Country Inn at The Mall
"Nice hotel, would stay again."
Bangor Grande
"Large rooms. Nice location."
Anchorage Motel
"Great location while staying in Bar Harbor! Definitely would recommend this hotel!"
Acadia Ocean View Hotel
"Immaculately clean room and property , but they don’t have enough towels in the bathroom for two people. They also don’t have good floors , we could hear the people next-door as if they were elephants trotting through the room. We were woken up by them at 6am and never could fall back asleep again. The noise was very bad."
Kimball Terrace Inn Northeast Harbor
"Beautiful views and starting spot for Acadia Park trips"
Comfort Inn Ellsworth - Bar Harbor
"The hotel was great. The staff were friendly. There was iced coffee in the lobby. It was obvious from the little touches that the manager really cared about the guest experience at their hotel. This was one of the best hotel experiences I've had."
Bluenose Inn - Bar Harbor Collection
"This was one of the nicest hotels my wife and I have ever stayed at. Your staff is AMAZING! The amenities are great!"
Seasider Motel
"We booked this on a whim because options were limited and I didn't plan well. We were pleasantly surprised! This is not a fancy resort and you won't get a nice lounge, Continental breakfast, outside hang out space, etc. but the staff are friendly and helpful. They printed the Park Pass for us at the desk, free of charge. They constantly keep snacks out - crackers, kind bars, Cliff bars, juices, and bottled water. Any other hotel charges for those items. These are free and available 24/7. The room was clean, but basic. No frills or anything fancy. Everything we needed to be out all day enjoying Acadia and Bar Harbor and sleeping at night. Definitely would stay again!"
Atlantic Coast Inn
"The inn served it's purpose in giving me an inexpensive place to lay my head when I wasn't busy exploring Acadia National Park and the surrounding area. Nothing special, just the basics and what you need to be comfortable."
