Learn more about Wilmington
Tackle the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies at Whiteface Mountain, where Olympic history meets powder perfection. Between runs, warm up with hot chocolate at the mid-mountain lodge where staff share tales of past winter games. Santa's Workshop delights with its peculiar year-round Christmas spirit – elves maintain character even when checking their smartphones. High Falls Gorge offers a completely different thrill, with walkways clinging to rock faces above thundering water. After adventures, join locals at tiny coffeehouses where baristas double as trail guides, offering insider tips on hidden swimming holes. Summer brings families to Wilmington Town Beach, where Adirondack chairs face mountain views that make even smartphone-addicted teens look up in wonder.

Laurel Lake Placid
"Loved it! I love staying here. I love the beds, common areas, staff, food, etc"
High Peaks Resort
"We stayed at High Peaks Resort for five nights with two rooms. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the staff were excellent. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. There were, however, several things that I think need improvement. We found black mold in the bathroom tile grout, the used drinking glasses were not never replaced, and the ice buckets were left with melted ice and water from the previous nights with new oice bag replced. The lobby coffee was advertised until 11 AM, but it was often empty and not replenished. The restaurant food was just so-so, and unlike most of the other places along the strip, the resort does not offer a happy hour. The upstairs restaurant and bar deck overlooking the lake was closed most of the time during our stay, which was disappointing because enjoying that view was one of the reasons we wanted to eat there. I also requested a one hour late checkout and had to push quite a bit to get it approved. Finally, calling the canoe and paddleboat area a "beach" is misleading because there really is no beach. We appreciate the excellent staff and had an enjoyable trip overall, but with these issues, I would think twice about staying here again unless some of these areas are improved."
Grandview Lake Placid
"Amazing location with a beautiful view. The renovated rooms are really nice and the hall, restaurant and pool are great. The place feels warm and welcoming. The only thing that could be improved is the staff service at the breakfast restaurant. It was a breakfast buffet and all they had to do was to serve coffee and beverages and we had to ask 3 times. The restaurant wasn’t full and they were plenty of waiters. Other than that very please le with our stay and we will come back for sure."
The Whiteface Lodge
"Wonderful family friendly resort in a beautiful setting. Multiple activities oriented to both kids and adults. Grandchildren loved the kids camp, pools, lawn areas to run around, playground, and ice cream shop. Adults loved the restaurants, hot tubs, bowling option, porches, and quiet spaces around the property. Shuttle service was awesome. All of the staff were friendly, accommodating, and patient. A triple A experience for our family."
The Hungry Trout
"The staff was excellent. Unfortunately when we were there, the pool was closed due to a chemical imbalance. Having operated an apartment complex pool for years, I understand the reasoning, and we found plenty of other things to do in town or in Lake Placid. The location was perfect. Far enough out from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid, but close enough to be able to enjoy our time."
Gauthier's Saranac Lake Inn
"The TV didn’t have service and the pool was not available. The water view was excellent and beds were comfortable. The location was easily accessible ."
Cambria Hotel Lake Placid - Lakeside Resort
"We had a wonderful experience at the Cambria, so much so we will book there from now on . Rooms were clean and the balcony suite was well worth the price. Grounds were well kept and everything is very convenient."
Whiteface Farm Adirondack Bed and Breakfast
"The B&B was great, we will be back for sure!"
The Wilderness Inn
"A calm place for a resting day and near to the high falls gorge and white face mountain attractions"
