Learn more about Nevada City
Victorian facades hide artisanal ice cream shops and wine bars in this Gold Rush town that refuses to become a theme park. The Nevada Theatre hosts everything from Shakespeare to indie bands in a venue where Mark Twain once lectured. Locals might direct you to swimming holes along the South Yuba River, where crystalline waters flow over smooth granite. Pan for gold at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, where hydraulic mining once washed away entire hillsides. The Off Broadstreet Theatre serves up dessert with its performances in an intimate setting that feels like watching a show in someone's living room. Come autumn, the surrounding hills explode with color that would make New England jealous, best viewed with a local craft beer in hand.

Flume's End
"Beautiful property, but a few issues made the stay uncomfortable Overall, this is a beautiful property with a charming bed-and-breakfast feel, and I enjoyed the atmosphere. However, there were a few issues that made the stay less comfortable than it could have been. The biggest issue was the temperature in the room. It was very warm throughout my entire stay. I was told the AC would be turned on, but I never really felt the room cool down. I ended up having to keep a fan running, and unfortunately the fan was making a loud noise and needed some adjustment just to use it. The TV remote also didn’t work properly. The other major issue was with Expedia. I apparently had a message from the property with important information about accessing the property, but I couldn’t access the message through Expedia. I wasn’t able to properly log into the account/messages, and the app didn’t make it clear that I had an important message waiting. This made getting into the property unnecessarily stressful and uncomfortable. I think this was partly an Expedia issue and partly a communication issue with the property. Aside from those problems, the property itself is beautiful and has a unique, cozy bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. With better communication through Expedia and a cooler, more comfortable room, this would have been a much better experience."
Harmony Ridge Lodge
"Our stay at Harmony Ridge was fantastic. The room was clean and spacious, the beds firm and comfortable. We loved the jetted tub and the porch leading to a forested area was great to walk around and explore. The breakfast was tasty and the staff very friendly. Would easily stay here again!"
