Just had 24 hours to spend in Lucca. It was a great stay, the staff was very helpful from the moment we arrived. Franco, who took us to our room doubles as the hotel bartender at night. Villa Porto All'Arco is an old villa that's been converted to a small hotel. Don't come if you're looking for modern amenities. This is more of a trip back in time. You get tall ceilings and original floors from hundreds of years ago. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful. And they serve a great breakfast. Two minor demerits. First, the address didn't show up on our GPS so it was a little difficult to find. Second, it's a five minute walk from the hotel to the main piazza of Volterra. So...

My stay was amazing. The hotel is clean and the staff very nice and friendly. Always happy to help. On my last day they tried to secure a taxi to take me to the airport but there was none available so one of the hotel staff left his post to give me a ride to the airport so I wouldn’t miss my flight. He didn’t have to but he did. I was really grateful. Will definitely be staying here when next I visit and will definitely recommend this place
