The location was beautiful. Amazing scenic views in every direction with Volterra on the hill in the distance! The villa was perfect for our family of 4. The kids loved to cool off in the pool after a day of sightseeing and the owners were helpful with any questions we had. Truly a perfect Tuscan getaway!

Property was ok ! Dining was terrible and waiter was rude ! Descent stay for two days but no more than that !

We loved this place! Getting here was a bit tricky, as the map we were given in the welcome email was of bad quality, so it didn't take us to the correct place right away, but we figured it out, very minor. I'm sure you can ask for a better quality map. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted by Lisa, who was oh so very helpful! We are very frequent travelers who have never been to the Villa il Poggiale before and loved it. We visited in late September - not too hot and the evenings were cool. Perfect time to go. We had an amazing experience in this hotel and this area of Chianti particularly. Fonte de Medici is truly small luxury hotel which provides anything you need. Rooms are very comfortable and clean in a beautiful settings where you can smell the pine trees and lavender. There is no need to keep the AC running all night as they have mosquito nets installed on windows and constant breeze cools the area every afternoon and night. Fantastic stay at the Fattoria San Donato. The property is located in the midst of nature, very easy to reach, with lots of parking. Charming, quiet, nicely situated hotel. Very good pool, luxurious garden.

We cannot recommend this hotel enough. The price was so worth it. The resort has a delicious restaurant, comfortable and luxurious accommodations, a lovely bar, relaxing pool area, and the most amazing Tuscan hills view. We can attest that the romantic sunset they promote is spot on. There is a quaint downtown a 10 minutes walk away as well. It was conveniently located to Florence and many other Tuscan locations. It was amazing to get an authentic Tuscan experience.

Italian dream place to stay pool food down time great breakfast.

One of the highlights of our trip! We felt like king and Queen during our stay. Beautiful grounds and pool. Having drinks and meals there on property allowed us to stay for days without leaving the property. I would live there if they would let me.

This was my fourth visit to this wonderful place. Alessandro, Betty, Luca and the staff are so kind and welcoming and took care of our every need. Hospitality and a relaxing environment is what sets them apart from any other place that I have ever stayed at. The countryside location was another plus.

When we walked in it brought tears to my eyes. It’s a slice of heaven. We can’t wait to go back. The staff was amazing. The food was exceptional and our room was gorgeous!
