Environment is outstanding and front desk staff were very friendly. Well located property with free parking. Offers indoor and outdoor Onsens. Free popsicle sticks, yogurt drink, and Soba at night.
We had an amazing stay at Ryotei Hanayura. The ambiance is just beautiful with Japanese cultural motif. Every piece of decor is exquisite. We had a traditional Japanese room facing the mountain with private onsen. The room is very spacious. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious. We stayed for 3 nights and our last night’s dinner was Crab kaiseki dinner, with different kinds of crab. Breakfast has Western buffet with the sweetest fresh fruits (apple, pineapple, kiwi and oranges) and...
Spacious clean room. Very comfortable beds and furnishings. Large bathroom with two sinks and lots of counter space. Only a 15 minute walk to the Hell’s Valley entrance. Bus station across the hotel.
This was a fantastic wooden cabin with an amazing view of Lake Toya over pretty garden flowers from the small balcony and large bathtub with huge window. Trees blocked the view of the fireworks but you can see those from the parking lot just steps away. We had two single beds downstairs and our daughter had her own bed in a mezzanine up a slightly scary ladder. Mattresses were a bit too hard for my liking (we have luxury firm at home). Toilet was in a lovely wooden room, with heated seat and...
Free shuttle from the station; restorative bathing(only separate men and women bathing facilities); delicious full course dinner and breakfast…. It was a lovely stay.
The baths (onsen) at this hotel were outstanding. There was a huge variety, including waterslides. Breakfast was good, as well. We were able to park our car here and then walk over to the "hells" (jigoku). We would gladly stay here again.
Location: Great, just about 5 minutes walk from the bus stop, and right on the loop (shortcut path #2) of the thermal valley.
Food: Generous, about 8/10.
Rooms and facilities: This is an older hotel. It shows its age, but it adds to its charm of a bygone era - think the 80s. Rooms are large, the hallway to elevator is also large and long. The onsen could use some TLC, but I have no issue with it. Carpet, elevator, decoration, everything is old, but clean.
Staff: The manager, male...
The resort was excellent, with an amazing views of Lake Toya. The buffet was excellent, with a large spread; we loved everything we ate. The top floor outdoor bath was great, and very relaxing. Overall this was a fabulous hotel, and made for a great relaxing vacation.
