The hotel isn't a"palace" in as much as the guest house for the palace somewhere else. Lots of heads of state stayed there. But its only ten rooms. SO it "feels" like a luxury bed and breakfast, not a "palace". There is nothing except the Ganges and the Hindu religious events. That's not a bad thing. Just be aware it is rural India. Its more of a destination for doing nothing and relaxing, than activities.
Close to a shopping area. Good food. Clean rooms and friendly staff. I was there for business, but I hear its good for tourists.
Tip for travel around town: Avoid buying the taxi at the hotel. You can save 1/2 the cost by negotiating the rate with drivers sitting outside the hotel gate. They are waiting to get into the hotel anyway and you cut out the middle man.
Great value, excellent breakfast buffet! Very nice staff (Thank you Santos). Great spa. Location is off the river front but still nice. You’ll have to cab or tuk tuk to the riverfront and old town but at 60 to 75 a night, it’s a deal. The bar and lounge on grounds is also a gem. Thank you for a nice stay 👍
