About 20 minutes drive outside of Gubbio and up a mountain, the Castello provides a unique hotel stay. Our room was in a building inside the walls. It was quite large with a very roomy bathroom with both large tub and separate shower. Beams, stone walls and wooden shutters contributed to the castle atmosphere. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious also. The view was outstanding. Both our dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff was very friendly.
This hotel is fantastic! The balcony view of the Tuscan landscape and the Basilica was incredible. The twin bed was adequate and fit the theme of staying at a former monastery. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel has a chapel inside (it was a monastery) and that was an added treat. The main churches were easily accessible. I cannot imagine staying at a more beautiful place in Assisi than this hotel!
The staff was very welcoming. The owner even took us to the train station when he saw us out on the street looking at our Google Maps for walking directions. 10-12 minutes walk from the train station. (5 if you jog about halfway!) Great breakfast prepared for us. I would highly recommend staying there. (Download an offline translator because they didn't speak much English.)
Hotel Sole was a complete surprise. We booked budget friendly accommodations that were simple, but this place was super clean, well appointed with a surprising amount of space for a 4 person family room in Europe! The shower had good water pressure and stayed hot for 4 showers, the bathroom was small but had everything we needed. To top it off the location was incredible! We stayed at the Villa Raffaello Park for 3 nights. The staff was friendly, accommodating and very helpful. The hotel was an easy 15 minute drive to Assisi.
The family that owns this place was so helpful. None of them spoke English when I checked in, but we were able to figure it out with another guest who translated I could’ve used Google translate as well. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had an amazing night sleep. The breakfast was great, and for a one night stay before my bike tour. This was perfect. It was quiet, cozy, and close to the start of my bike trip.
Really cute hotel above a restaurant. Make sure you check in at the restaurant as there is not lobby. Check in and out is at the restaurant. The hotel is modern but really nice inside. Breakfast was small but fine. The staff is nice. Location is great and close to the train station and main sights. To get to Assisi you walk to the train station and catch a bus. Make sure to get bus tickets at the kiosk across from the train station.
