Hotel Herzog Georg is a real gem hidden in rural Germany. The size of room is larger than a standard European room and we were very happy to have 2 large size doubles for my wife and 15 yr old son. Breakfast was massive European style and quality was superb. Lots of walking opportunities around town with site seeing and hiking just a short drive away. If you are visiting Wartburg Castle, there is no better place to stay. The walk through the woods to the castle is magical. The room is decorated comfortably with quality furniture. The breakfast is full of variety with a view to match. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and were very pleased with the food and service.
This was one of the last places I stayed on a four week vacation. It was probably the nicest of all the places I stayed. I was quite impressed. The staff was helpful and friendly as well.
This was a backup choice after our 1st choice was not open for business via another booking service. It's further in the hills of Thuringia but we'll worth the drive. The rooms are well done and immaculate, the restaurant is incredible, and the staff does well with English only travelers for a remote location. If we are back in this area, I will look this one up.
I was quite pleased with my stay here. It was perfect and economical for my purposes. The staff person was quite nice and helpful, and while the front is not open all the time, it's easy to get in and out.
It isn't a town that is open all hours, so don't expect to eat late at night, but it's definitely charming and the hotel was a part of that!
