"Celebrated an anniversary and birthday while staying at the Waxenstein. An anniversary card and chocolates in our room and a special birthday breakfast table with champagne for my wife’s birthday. All unexpected but greatly appreciated. No doubt our future trip to Grainau will include a stay at the Waxenstein."

"Easy train to Garmisch. Quiet and staff were so friendly and helpful. They even had stamps for sale for our letters and postcards. Breakfast was excellent with a big variety of foods, even an omelet/egg station. Train to Eibsee/Zugspitze is a mini block away and takes you right there (train passes provided to us as part of our stay). Great experience and would return"

"We were group of 3 persons. We were able to fit in one room. Sauna and pool area very lovely and breakfast had a lot of varieties to choose from. Staff was super friendly and we were greeted in our own language, Finnish. A lady from staff had once visited Finland more than 30 years for some weeks and still remembered quite much Finnish words from that time. Location was good for hikes nearby. Warmly can recommend this hotel also for future quests."

The accommodations were nice and cozy, sure they lack those modern details like your standard modern corporate hotel but its character and makes you feel at home. Romm comfortable, but we do wish there was a kettle on room, rather than having to ask for a flask of hot water every time we wanted a cuppa. The flak was always willingly provided, but not quite boiling water, so the tea was not quite up to scratch. Excellent location for the old town."

"Being from the US, the hotel was the perfect German charm we were looking for. Common area and room was clean and all the employees were very helpful and friendly… and spoke English, which was a plus!! Fantastic German breakfast was included in our room fee.
