Basalt Retreat

10/10 Excellent

"Incredible stay at Basalt Retreat! We enjoyed a cozy and luxurious evening the beautiful vineyard, made even more lovely by the complimentary bottle of prosecco and warm hot cocoa. The space itself is gorgeous and so well appointed—from the fascinating books to the gorgeously-scented bath products. Breakfast was delicious: an exquisite croissant loaf with butter and fig jam, plus yogurt and muesli, all made by local purveyors. If you have time, make sure to get lunch at the lovely restaurant. The goat cheese nests were one of the best dishes we tasted in Melbourne—and of course the wine was delicious. The retreat is also just 10 minutes away from the most amazing wildlife reserve—Tower Hill—where we spotted many koalas, kangaroos, and black wallabies!! All around 10/10 experience."

"Rooms and hotel in general were beautifully clean. Lots of memorabilia though out there hotel. Only downsides was a very hard mattress and not a lot of floor room for bags. Super place to stay,right in the middle of Warnambool and Port Fairy."
