It definitely had the old English charm that I was looking for. My room overlooked the waterway which was nice. There’s a Costco close enough to get anything you might have forgotten. The pub next door served the complementary breakfast and other meals throughout the day. On Friday night they had live entertainment which was very nice.
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only negatives were the restaurant closed early and parking was inconvenient. I believe the restaurant will have later hours as the hotel builds their location. The parking would have been better if I wasn’t arriving on a game night. We had to park across the lot and walk through the mud with our bags.
It was a great one night stay overall especially since it was a last minute booking due to my Vrbo not being ready the day of my arrival. I would definitely recommend staying here again.
We drove up to the hotel I had booked and my partner was immediately disappointed to have arrived at a Holiday Inn located in an office park, but by day 4 of our visit to the Wigan area to visit friends and family, we both appreciated how great a spot we had found for our stay. Bedroom was clean .. only thing I could suggest is having a phone for housekeeping such as needing toilet roll extra otherwise need to go down to reception .. check in and checkout was fairly easy no hassle .. tea and coffee was also downstairs and unlimited - good feature but can make it bit easier if had kettle in the room .. also was advised tap water was drinkable .. maybe a filtered water machine could be a great asset.
