I've been to Xining many times and the Sofitel is the only hotel of this caliber in town. As of Feb 2016 at least, everything is still very new and the and this kind of 4-5 star hotel has finally arrived in what used to feel like such a distant outpost on the edge of the Tibetan plateau. The staff was very professional and Evin Xing was a big help organising a very early taxi for our departure and making sure things were taken care of. It was just a 1 night stay. It is attached to the Sofitel and has free access to all the amenities there: gym, pool, sauna, spa, etc. I went to take advantage of the pool and spa. Had a wonderful full massage and facial. My only complaint was my stay was too short. I plan to return again.
