Hope and Anchor Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Staff, excellent pub food and breakfast"
Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"A lovely hotel with well trained restaurant staff. The food was excellent. Our room was clean and spacious with a very powerful shower over the large bath. The grounds were beautifully kept. A most enjoyable short break."
The Joiners Arms
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderful pub and great staff."
The Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate
8/10 Good
"Enjoyed our stay but some of the reception staff looked so unhappy. A smile would have gone a long way The meals we had in the restaurant were fine and staff there had a bit of oomph!"
Purdy Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Very good room and no road noise despite being beside the A1. The food was good both the evening meal and especially the breakfast . The staff were very friendly and efficient"
The Bamburgh Castle Inn - The Inn Collection Group
8/10 Good
"Great location with lovely views over the harbour. Full of character. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Our room was in the Annex on the back, but it was very comfortable with a huge queen size bed. The bathroom was ok with a modest cubicle shower, but larger people may struggle with the size. We were lucky to arrive mid day and parked at the hotel. There are limited spaces and you may need to park elsewhere and pay. In high season this could be difficult and Seahouses is small and gets packed. The bar menu was good, but restricted and what we did eat was very tasty. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good selection, but the food a bit hit and miss for freshness. You can however, order options from the menu. The hotel is a great base for the walk to Bamburgh Castle (3 miles along the beach or along the coast path if the tide turns). The walk to the boats for the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne takes two minutes. A very popular hotel and bar for dog walkers, of which there were many! Would we stay again? Yes!"
The Oaks Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"friendly, helpful staff, excellent food, great location"
The Portland Hotel
8/10 Good
"We were up in Newcastle to drop out daughter back to Uni, and rooms in Newcastle were at a premium due to the Great North Run. So we looked further out and found the Portland. Easy to find just off the main road from Newcastle. The hotel has its own onsite parking which is easy to find with plenty of spaces and costs £10 per night. We had to be back in Newcastle to see the start of the run so did not have time for breakfast (£15 continental, or £20 per person cooked breakfast). If you drive an EV there are Instavolt rapid chargers at the McDonalds nearby and others at the Ashington station requiring your own cable. Comfortable nights stay, thank you"
