Check in was smooth. No lift but successful in lugging 30+kg. suitcase up & down 3 flights of stairs. Room was impeccably clean. Room safe was difficult to access due to its position on floor of closet and tendency to entrap tiny objects in door which forced me to call for help. Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths.

This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in the UK (and I've been staying at quite a few 5 star hotels). The staff was professional, friendly, and accomodating. I would say the room is good for sleeping, but just be aware they are very tiny rooms. Luxury, in a cute little town that you can walk to. Restaurant and lounge are good, but because it is in walking distance to the town, you have choices. Room was awesome, TV reception fantastic and bathtub was a very welcome thing after a long day of touring. Didn't get to try the spa, but it was great to have that option.
