Learn more about Indian Springs
The air force base brings a steady stream of personnel to this tiny town, creating an unusual mix of military precision and frontier casualness. Red Rock Canyon's crimson cliffs provide hiking trails where desert tortoises might cross your path at their own deliberate pace. Local diners serve hearty breakfasts to both airmen and rock climbers fueling up before their respective adventures. The surrounding Mojave Desert landscape offers spectacular stargazing opportunities – the kind that make you feel simultaneously tiny and privileged. Vacation rentals provide a base for exploring this curious corner of Nevada where military might meets natural wonder.

The Retreat on Charleston Peak
8/10 Good
"Hotel is OK for a short stay or getting away from the heat in Vegas. Rooms are a bit out of date and tired, not super nice. But it was comfortable and easy in and out access to the MTN. Not much around other than the hotel it self. Food was great in the bar area"
