The hotel met our expectations for a budget hotel. It seemed clean and quiet. They accommodated our unplanned late check in thankfully, and the lobby had plenty of brochures available on local attractions. Make sure to note the front desk hours and advise in advance if parking or after hours check-in is needed. It is in a good location also as there is a small grocery store across the street and within easy walking distance of the Cognac tourism office, several good restaurants, and Cognac...

This is a former abbey partially converted to a hotel . There is an awesome cathedral on the property and the most unique musical carousel that allows you to play instruments as it turns. We had rooms with showers although there are also less expensive rooms with showers down the hall. The main commercial street with restaurants etc is a 10 minute walk. Free parking; no TVs. Extremely restful and charming.

This B&B is easy to find by foot on Rue de Jardins. It's a 14th century townhouse owned by an American expat family. Armand is bilingual and very informative regarding the sites to see in Saintes. She is also a delightful and attentive host, and a textile artisan to boot! My room was ample in size, rustic with a beamed ceiling, and a sizeable in-suite bathroom. Breakfast was served in her wonderful garden, in the shadow of Saint-Pierre Cathedral. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks...
