Wonderful place and lovely host. Their bioluminescence tour with Luis was amazing! Bed is comfortable. Be aware that there is no AC and it is 80 degrees at night. They have a great set up, fans pointed at the beds. Highly recommend this proprty!
Tambor Tropical is an exceptionally well cared for property. We were well taken care of by very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is a great place for a quiet and peaceful getaway.
This isn't a comment towards the hotel, but we felt important for visitors to know that the beach isn't a great swimming beach. It is great for sunrises, long walks, and not sharing it with many other people.
Great location looking over Tortuga Island. Beautiful settings with pool area with panoramic view. Need 4x4 to access hotel because 2 mi are on gravel and steep.

Parking is narrow, it is difficult to use. They really need to get more parking space.
Had trouble with the shower in the morning: water flow went from zero to enough and then zero, prolly lots of people taking a shower at the same time, was afraid of ending up with soap all over.
Puterenas is a busy port and not really a center for tourism. I reserved here as a halfway point from Tamarindo to Quepos. What a wonderful surprise. Beautiful large condo unit with fabulous views of the water and boats on both sides of the property. 2 great pools, full professional gym with all the machines and free weights, and a great little restaurant.
The property is beautiful, Tomas is incredibly helpful and passionate, comfy bed, nice pools, yummy breakfast (bread/ jellies, coffee/tea, juice, fresh fruits, eggs) & close to beaches and Bioluminescent tour in secluded area so plenty of nature to enjoy. The entrance sidewalk is steep so wear hiking/tennis shoes not sandals/ heels, Tomas did offer to help us bring our bags up which was nice but just be aware it may not be accessible for everybody. Loved every moment. Plenty of activities. Drinks and excursions were quite inexpensive relative to our expectations. Folks from so many different parts of the world appear to stay here. Food was delicious. People were incredibly nice. The pool (with pool bar), waterfall, and lookout are all must-try items. The grounds are also quite extensive and nice to walk. Monkeys, large iguanas, and unique birds frequent the hotel grounds. Easily the best vacation I've ever had.
A nice location by the beach. The rooms are behind a restaurant, keeping it quieter. The accommodations are older with rooms that show some wear, but that’s a minor cosmetic concern. it’s a fine place to stay!
We used the hotel bus from San Jose, comfortable and excellent service. Reception staff Gonzalo & Alex outstanding. Very pls with the staff in the restaurants and with the cleanness regardless we stayed on a long week end with lots of people. The food was very good as well as the maintenance and cleanness of the room. The gardens beautiful ! The beach, if you walk a few yards to the left you can find a lovely beach with lots of vegetation nearby.

Nice place with an awesome view of the ocean. Beautiful, yummy breakfast was well worth the extra cost. Very friendly and helpful staff. Right next to the center of town, but still private, safe and relatively quiet with big trees great for viewing wildlife. Nice, clean comfortable room with ceiling fan. Shared bathroom and shower were unexpected but likely because I just didn't notice it in the description of the room.
