"The Mercure Hotel in Gera was good business and comuter hotel. The surroundings were a bit eerie because a lot the buildings gave off a cold and industrial feel that were remnants from the Soviet Era. The bathtub in my room was a bit high and slipped and hurt myself get out of the high bathtub. The parking was also tricky because the door to the faciity was very quick. The consierges were frendlier and provided me with an iron an ironing board to get prepared for two business meeting in the Gera and Thurigen area later that day."

"The property is pretty close to the city center by the opera house where you can find lots of shops and restaurants. I like its location because it’s tucked away enough that it’s quiet. The building on the outside is lovely with a courtyard to hang out in. The inside is up to date and clean. I would describe this as a more laid back version of a hotel, nothing like the chains. But it is charming. It is close to tram lines and the train (I did not take the train). It is a 20 minute drive to the airport by car/taxi. The staff I interacted with were friendly."
