This agriturismo is located not far from Bari, Matera and Alberobello. It is definitely out in the country and the nearest town with services is a couple miles away. But it was quiet and nice to relax before ending my trip. The owners were very nice and made sure I had breakfast before my very early departure.
We could not have enjoyed our stay more.
From the moment of check in to our check out, the staff at Thymus were incredibly helpful. They provided a list of recommended restaurants and then offered to even make the reservations. We were able to enjoy two fabulous dinners.

We had an amazing stay at the Cenobio Hotel! It can be a bit tricky to find if it's your first time in Matera, and you can't drive directly to the hotel. Plus, there are some steps to navigate both downhill and uphill. Knowing this from other reviews, we contacted the hotel before our arrival. They arranged a shuttle from the car park, which made things super easy for us. I highly recommend doing this if you're planning to stay here. THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST AUTHENTIC CAVE HOTEL IN MATERA. IF YOU DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL HAVE CHEATED YOURSELF OF A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. I VISITED NUMEROUS CITIES IN ITALY AND MATERA WILL TOUCH YOUR HEART AND TRANSPORT YOU BACK TO BIBLICAL TIMES (NOTE: THE MOVIE ," PASSION OF THE CHRIST " WAS FILMED HERE). OH , AND IF THAT ISN'T ENOUGH , THE FOOD HERE IS AMAZING.

Bedsize/bathroom is limited. Michaela, the owner was very friendly and polite. Her
knowledge about PUGLIA was great and all advices about sightseeing/restaurant were
just great. We enjoyed local food at outstanding restaurants!

You cannot drive directly to the hotel. Parking is a short distance away and you must walk to the hotel on cobblestone streets with your luggage, but this is not too difficult and true of many places in central Matera.
Beautiful room in a cave with independent entrance. Touristic but also quiet location. The access is a bit complicated if carrying bags. Great service and breakfast in the room. I would recommend to friends and family.
