This is a small fabulous hotel close to Ciampino airport. For our last night l, I wanted one more taste of Italy - this is a winner. The hotel is exposed beams, charming details and genuine Italian people. The restaurant next door was the surprise, incredible food and an old wine cellar converted to a fabulous taverna. Wine by the pitcher and portions that are large by American measures. It was an incredible last evening in Italy.

Although my taxi driver from Rome got lost even using the gps. But when he eventually discovered the hotel, it was perfectly nestled within this idyllic Roman medieval village which hosts the Papal summer residence. The hotel is overlooking the Alban lake. The view from my room has a breathtaking view of the lake on one side and the neigjbors' houses on the other side. I was kindly upgraded by a very helpful staff which adds to my resolve to go back. This is my second stay, my first was 11 years ago. The hotel has deteriorated in the past decade with no obvious signs of refurbishment. I love the property. It is so beautiful! I haven't seen a bad room yet and even when we stayed in a separate building, we had a beautiful view. I enjoyed my stay but there were a few issues. The staff is spread too thin. We needed to find a room for our final night of 2 weeks in Italy. We had a rental car so it had to be within an hour drive of FCO airport, have safe parking, yet offer something new. Looking at a relief map of Rome, we noticed an old volcano with a lake in it. Hello Lago Albano. On the south of the lake is Castel Gandolfo, and the Castel Vecchio Hotel. This motel is conveniently located on the outskirts of Frascati and adjacent to the main Autostrada. Another helpful feature was its friendly English-speaking staff.

Great place to stay for a night or two near Ciampiano. Next time we'll hopefully have time to visit Castel Gandolfo. Very helpful staff and very good buffet breakfast. Thank you!!!

Really modern hotel, great bar and restaurant. Large spacious rooms, tastefully furnished. Friendly helpful staff, easy commute to Rome (30 mins to Roma Termini). We looked at staying in Rome, but the hotels there did not have any available parking, and I was driving a rental car. Also based on the pictures on websites the hotels in Rome seem to be old, poorly maintained and they charge premium dollars based on location only. Great place to stay! Very convenient location if you're traveling by car, metro, or tour bus! Hotel is clean and has friendly staff. Breakfast is included and its tasty! You can definitely fill up with the eggs, bacon, assortment of pastries, cheeses, and meats! Highly accomodating of big groups as well as individual travelers!

Rooms were cleaned daily and more than what I expected. Eleanor at the front desk was VERY helpful in accommodating rides to and from the airport and down to the Colosseum.

Lots of free parking on site. Offered a good continental breakfast. Room was pleasant and clean. Easy access to and from high way.

The experience in this hotel was excellent. If I could stay in Rome again, I would choose this hotel!

The hotel area did not feel safe. It was good for one night stay.
